9. Describe how to find the x-intercepts of a rational function? Include both the long way and the shortcut way, explaining why the shortcut makes mathematical sense.

To find the x-intercepts of a rational function is pretty basic. All you have to do is remember that when lookinf for x-intercepts y=0. That means you set up your rational function to equal 0. The long way would be to set up your rational function and multiply it by the denominator to end up with just the numerator. The shortcut way which makes more mathematical sense since you just want the x-intercepts would be taking your numerator and setting that equal to 0.
Example: (x+2)(x-1)/(x+4), set the top equal to zero and get x-1=0 and x+2=0. The x intercepts will be (1,0) and (-2,0),
