Dear Future Math Analysis Students,
It must be thrilling and exciting to see what awaits you in the next stage of your high school life. Growing up means having to deal with change and all that comes with it but still being able to maintain the basics of life.
If you want to have a successful school year there will be much that you must do. First thing is first, you cannot have a successful school year if you do not want it to be successful. Try to be positive and keep an open mind to change because as life will teach you, change will happen whether you want it to or not. Now to start off the year right you have to start the Summer Work for Math Analysis as soon as possible. Although the work is basic review of past lessons it will still require you to think and take up time. Do not procrastinate as this will not give you any benefits to which could make your year successful. Trust me when I say to start something as soon as you get it because once things get rolling throughout the school year, you will experience large amounts of home work that has piled up if not completed. This will only cause stress and pain to yourself so it is best to avoid procrastinating. Another tip would be to befriend as many people in your class as they will be able to help you out in case you do not understand something in class. Plus the more friends the more fun math will be.
The Flipped Classroom is a bit different than an average math class as it requires the integration of technology into the learning and teaching of math. The use of technology will range from recording videos that other student will watch and learn from to taking pictures of word problems that students will solve. Its very important that you have a computer at home with internet access as this will help you out a lot in the class. By using cameras or phones to record videos of lessons, you can come to understand the concept as well as teach it to others who may need help on it. Pictures are helpful as most people learn by seeing rather than by instruction. You will be asked to run a blog in which you will post all these videos and pictures for the benefit of fellow students who may need help on a certain math lesson.
As I mentioned earlier, the Flipped Classroom is different from average math classes that were taken in the past. This new type of class will not only teach the kids how to do math but also help them to learn the why behind the mat. Students are able to learn more on their own and function as if they were in a college class. You may have trouble adjusting to this new setting but eventually it will grow on you and it will become something that you cannot help but appreciate. There are plenty of benefits to a flipped classroom than a normal standard classroom.
I wish you luck on your journey down the interesting road of Math Analysis.
Sincerely,
Frank Lagunas
